Equipment
Falling in love with the latest and greatest pieces of equipment is one thing.
Selecting, understanding and knowing it is something else entirely.
We’ll discuss how to get the best out of what you have, what you need and probably don’t need.
Boring Weddings?
I am amazed at the number of times I hear photographers speak of “Boring Weddings”, there is no such thing as a boring wedding.
Great & Exciting images are present at each and every wedding.
We’ll discuss what can be done to recharge and revitalize ourselves so that we may go beyond what we and our clients expect.
Style?
What made you shoot that? What were you thinking?
We’ll discuss some of my influences, past and current-a few surprises there, and we’ll talk about what was going through my mind as I shot.
Clients
How do you find them? How do you determine prices?
Do you barter? Do you discount?
Is bonding with clients even necessary or is it balderdash?
Is your contract rock solid?
Will you enforce it? How?
How to get the best out of your clients while giving them your best AND still have a life of your own.
Lunch
As well as great photography information throughout the day you will also enjoy wonderful food.
Look for Chef Anthony’s to-die-for cheesecake at PJ Assmlies in my home office.
At all other locations rest assured that there will be NO bandwiches.
Emotion
Yes, weddings are fun-filled days, full of emotion and all that
Do you really understand all those wedding day emotions?
Do you know what makes you, and others angry?
Do you know when to “hold” and when to “fold” in tense situations?
How do you keep control without being, perceived or not, as a PITA?
Editing
is possibly, probably the one area where most photographers waste time, and of course money, and it really is unnecessary.
We’ll talk about how being brutal when it comes to editing is absolutely necessary and demonstrate how it will result in a much stronger set of images every time.
Albums
Are you happy with your album process? You do have one don’t you?
Album design, past present and future.
Protection
Do you have it?
Huh? What do you mean protection?

Challenges
Undoubtedly there are challenges at almost every wedding, some are self imposed others we have little control over.
How do you push yourself and your equipment to capture images that many would consider a lost cause?
More Challenges-low light
Some of the most rewarding images are simply the result of going back to basics
Low light shooting without a gazillion ISO’s
Challenges-Too much Light
Just like on a wrestling mat there’s no place to hide on a beach
or anywhere where there’s lots of light and no shade. You can shoot on a beach in the bright (understatement) light without a thousands or watts.
Challenges-On the day
Ever felt like you were in the middle of a Dog & Pony Show?
Clients don’t want to hear any whining about “Uncle Bobs” or “Nasty Videographers”
What do you do to get past the immediate challenges?
The Other Stuff
Huh? You still want more?
Where to find jeans that fit? Haven’t a clue
Favorite hair products? I just use what’s lying around in the bathroom
Cocktail advice? That’s an easy one, Single malt; Talisker or Highland Park – add water if you must.
Seriously though, the other stuff is all related to real photojournalism and photography; the seeing and capturing images and delivering them to clients. Simple and honest.
The last portion of the day is a Q&A session…
I won’t waste your time, you work too hard for that.
You want add-ons?
Ask about portfolio reviews and PJ Assembly private mentoring.
